This is the third generation of development prototypes in Argo’s two and a half years of its existence and marks a significant step toward the production vehicles that Ford plans to launch in 2021.
Based on Ford Fusion, with redundant steering and braking systems based on secondary power steering actuator motor and second means of applying brake pressure. This will provide an added safety margin to the vehicles.
Upgraded cameras and RADARs: The cameras now have higher resolution and dynamic range so that objects can be detected at longer distances and in more challenging lighting conditions. New radar sensors have been added to the front fenders while a pair of stacked lidar sensors still sit on the roof.
