Search giant Baidu has driven the most autonomous miles in Beijing | TechCrunch

8 companies are licensed to test self-driving cars.

Baidu registered nearly 140k kms in Beijing last year. Baidu runs an open platform called Apollo that lets 3rd-party developers tap its autonomous tech – with 135 partners in the initiative.

Robocars are now testing in more than 10 Chinese cities, including Beijing and Shanghai, as well as smaller urban centers like Changsha, where Baidu is working with the municipal government to bring 100 automated cabs to the city by the end of this year.

Pony.ai drove 10,132.9 kms which reached $1B in valuation after raising $102M in 7/2018.

Other self-driving companies included Tencent, Didi, Chuxing ,NIO, Audi, Daimler and BAIC Group. 

MIA is Roadstar.ai where it is rumored that shareholders are asking to dissolve and liquidate the Shenzhen and Silicon Valley-based firm following months of infighting among its senior executives.
